Ask the medical staff during your preoperative consultation about safety protocols.
◼︎ Will the procedure be performed under general anesthesia? ◼︎ Is general anesthesia administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist? ◼︎ Is a Surgical Safety Checklist completed and verified before surgery? ◼︎ Is the anesthesia machine automatically operated and equipped with real-time oxygen concentration monitoring? ◼︎ Are backup ventilation devices and oxygen cylinders available in case of a power failure or oxygen supply interruption? ◼︎ Is a defibrillator available in the operating room? ◼︎ Are endotracheal tubes, breathing circuits, reservoir bags, and suction catheters new disposable products that are discarded immediately after use? ◼︎ Is adequate pain management provided after surgery to ensure patient comfort? ◼︎ Is a recovery room prepared where the patient can recover safely after anesthesia? |
