Disposable Anesthesia Devices for Preventing Perioperative Infection


To prevent infections and patient-to-patient infection(cross-infection),

disposable anesthesia devices are used whenever possible.

All single-use devices are discarded immediately after use to eliminate any risk associated with reuse.


Disposable Laryngoscope

◼︎ Single-use only to prevent cross-contamination between patients

Disposable laryngoscopes are designed for single use and must be discarded after each patient to reduce the risk of cross-infection from reuse.




Video Laryngoscope

◼︎ Disposable blades; reusable handle and monitor screen

Video laryngoscopes come with a camera and monitor screen.

Parts that come into direct contact with the patient’s oral cavity, such as disposable blades, are disposed of after use.

The main body, including the handle and monitor, is reused after cleaning and disinfection (following the manufacturer’s instructions).

Reusable Laryngoscope

◼︎ Immediate cleaning followed by a high-level disinfectant or sterilization process

After use, all visible blood and secretions should be promptly cleaned away.

Reusable laryngoscopes must be thoroughly cleaned and then either disinfected with a high-level disinfectant or sterilized before reuse.




Airway Device

◼︎ Inserted into the mouth to prevent airway obstruction

An oropharyngeal airway is inserted into the patient’s mouth to keep the airway open and prevent obstruction during anesthesia.



Face Mask, Reservoir Bag, and Breathing Circuit

◼︎ Support patient ventilation and connect to the anesthesia ventilator

The reservoir bag stores breathing gas, while the breathing circuit delivers it to the patient.



Anti-bacterial / Anti-viral Breathing Filter

◼︎ Commonly referred to as a Heat-Moisture-Exchange (HME) filter

These filters, placed in the middle of the breathing circuit or at the ventilator's inlet or outlet, prevent bacterial and viral transmission from the patient to the ventilator and reduce heat and moisture loss from the breathing gases.
