Evaluation Criteria

These evaluation criteria are based on international medical safety standards to systematically confirm that patient safety and the quality of medical care are properly maintained throughout the general anesthesia process.


They thoroughly evaluate key elements, including medical personnel, equipment, infection control, medication use, and the recovery environment.

01. Anesthesia Specialist Medical Personnel, Facilities, and Equipment That Meet International Standards


◼︎ Provision of anesthesia by specialized anesthesia healthcare personnel

It is verified whether general anesthesia services at the medical institution are consistently provided by board-certified anesthesiologists who have completed continuing medical education.


◼︎ Availability and operation of essential anesthesia safety equipment

It is verified that anesthesia machines and essential monitoring devices, including functions critical for patient safety, are properly equipped and functioning correctly.

02. Use of Disposable Anesthesia Devices for Infection Prevention


◼︎ Establishment of measures to prevent infections and cross-infection between patients related to general anesthesia

It is verified whether anesthesia equipment used for infection control is thoroughly cleaned immediately after use and whether necessary components are disinfected.

The use of disposable breathing circuits and antibacterial filters to prevent cross-infection is evaluated.


◼︎ Disposal of Disposable Anesthesia Supplies to Reduce Patient Infection

It is verified whether endotracheal tubes, breathing circuits, antibacterial filters, airway devices, suction catheters, and other disposable anesthesia supplies used for infection prevention are properly disposed of immediately after use or reused if appropriate.

It is also verified whether all other medical supplies that can be replaced after patient use are properly reused or discarded.

It is verified that reusable anesthesia and medical devices and supplies undergo proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization immediately after use.



03. Availability and Use of Anesthesia and Treatment Medications per Established Procedures


◼︎ Availability and proper use of essential anesthesia safety medications

It is verified that anesthetic agents and analgesics necessary for safe anesthesia are adequately stocked and used correctly.

It is also verified that anesthetic medications are accurately recorded during anesthesia and that a traceable medication history management system is in operation.


◼︎ Availability and operation of emergency medications for anesthesia-related adverse events

It is verified that essential emergency medications for immediate use in emergencies are appropriately stocked.


◼︎ Compliance with medication storage and disposal procedures

It is verified that medications are stored according to safety standards and disposed of following relevant regulations.

04. Operation of a Recovery Room Essential for Safe Recovery After General Anesthesia


◼︎ Operation of a recovery room

It is checked whether a recovery room operates as a separate space to ensure the safe recovery of patients after anesthesia.


◼︎ Availability of essential equipment in the recovery room

It is verified whether the equipment and facilities necessary for safe patient recovery, such as oxygen supply systems and patient monitoring devices, are adequately provided in the recovery room.


◼︎ Establishment and documentation of recovery criteria

It is verified whether clear criteria for assessing patient recovery status are established and applied, and whether patient recovery assessments based on these criteria are performed and documented.


◼︎ Infection prevention management in the recovery room

It is verified whether infection control procedures, including maintaining cleanliness, hand hygiene, and equipment disinfection, are thoroughly followed in the recovery room to prevent infections.
